From the artist:
In 2000, my family and I moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It is the first time that I had ever lived in the West and quickly realized not only the beauty of the land, but also the impact that the western culture would have on me. Growing up in the East, we could only read about the life of a cowboy. Cowboys and Indians were depicted quite differently than the reality of their lives.
I chose the Cowboy Hat, Cowboy Boot, and Saddle for my first designs in my Western Collection to show my respect to the hard work that they do day-in and day-out.
Other common symbols of Western culture are various aspects of Native American life. Kokopelli is a fertility deity that presides over childbirth and agriculture and is revered by various tribes in the Southwest. And, of course, the Teepee is well known as a dwelling mostly for the Plains Indians.
Every spring, the Boy Scouts in Jackson Hole have an antler and skull auction on the Town Square. Many of the local merchants purchase and carve the antlers and sell them in many different forms. I chose the bison skull since bison are so prevalent in the area
Please note cards are printed from original artwork, and there may be a slight variation from piece to piece
