Collection: Dave Rowswell: Rawhide Jewelry

Dyed Rawhide Jewelry

Dave and Georgia Rowswell, are a husband and wife creative team. Dave is a retired art teacher and Georgia is a fiber artist. Together they help each other push forward their artistic visions.

Dave began working with rawhide as webbing for chairs and lampshades for wall sconces and then as a sculptural material. As the cut-off scraps began piling up, he began to think that this translucent, durable, lightweight material would make interesting and unique jewelry. After a year and a half of experimentation, Dave and Georgia introduced the "Rawhide Studio" jewelry line in the spring of 2013.

Dave is the chief jewelry maker, and Georgia provides design, tech, and sales support. Dave loves the process of jewelry making. “Cutting, sanding, punching, painting, and dyeing are many of the techniques used in saddle making and contemporary jewelry fabrication. My experimentation has resulted in an evocative and unique use of a traditional material that adds a western touch to the contemporary jewelry scene.”

Contemporary design with a Western flair is the hallmark of Rawhide Studio's jewelry. Made from natural, lightweight, translucent rawhide, each piece is handmade and unique. Wear a piece of Rawhide Studio’s jewelry and you will be “Ahead of the herd in jewelry style.”
