Crystal has worked with both fiber and photography. She often uses her photos as inspiration for her fiber pieces. These photographs have provided inspiration for work on fiber, including surface design, batik and hand stitchery.
Her interests range from more realistic animals and landscapes to abstract images inspired by patterns in nature. She then experiments with a variety of dyeing techniques and hand embellishments. Crystal states that surface design and hand embellishing allow her to deeply immerse herself in the creative process. She doesn't try to totally control the dyeing process because unanticipated results can lead to new and challenging outcomes.
Crystal's work had been featured in galleries and shows in Wyoming, California Colorado, New Mexico and Wisconsin.
