In 2019 I took a cruise on the inside passage to Alaska, setting sail on May 24th from Vancouver, British Columbia and finally making port in Seward Alaska. A friend of mine who lives in Anchorage, offered to be my tour guide for 3 days. She called me before my trip began and asked my interest in a flight seeing trip around Denali. I told her I was afraid of heights, to which she responded that she was as well, but besides that it sounded like fun. We booked with a company called Talkeetna Air Taxi, a company that has a sterling reputation for transporting climbers and tourists into the mountains, whether it be to scale the mountain or just to sight see. We booked an hour and forty-five-minute flight that eventually landed on the Ruth Glacier in the Don Sheldon Amphitheater. This photo is from the plane as we flew up the Kahiltna Glacier gorge to the Denali climber’s basecamp, as I looked north over the Alaska Range.
