Anna Chalfoun: Jewelry

Artist Statement:

I started “Featherstone
Beadworks” while a graduate
student studying wildlife biology in Missoula, Montana. Playing with pretty rocks
and making jewelry helped counter-balance the rigorous scientific focus. Since
2008, I have been a faculty member at UW and my graduate students and I focus
on research that addresses important gaps in information about birds, small
mammals, and amphibians of concern in Wyoming. Nevertheless, I still love
beautiful and unique stones, and tapping into my creative side. Every necklace
and pair of earrings I create is handmade using sterling silver and natural stones,
often with Swarovski crystals. No two will ever be exactly alike and the stones
serve as the inspiration. The necklaces you see are strung with leather (chokers)
or hand-dyed colored silks (tie necklaces.) Thank you for looking, and enjoy!
