Rosie Ratigan: Oil Painter

Lander, Wyoming

As a ranch woman, wife and mother, Rosie has lived a life close to nature. Her favorite subjects to paint are all the creatures that are a part of her surroundings: birds, bears, rabbits, foxes, and pronghorn. But the birds are the heart of Rosie's painting. As she likes saying, "they fly into my paintings and into my heart."

With her Hummingbird Studio in North Fork of the Popo Agie River near Lander, Wyoming, the opportunities to see wildlife in their natural habitats are abundant. The Great Blue Heron feeding in the river and the Sand Hill Cranes in the hay meadow and the Golden and Bald Eagles soaring with the Wind River Mountains as a backdrop, create many ideas for her paintings. In painting what she loves, her heart touches the canvas through her brush.
