August 2022 Artist of the Month - Lee Lane
The Artist of the Month for August is Lee Lane. Lee Lane is a Wyoming contemporary realist painter, primarily of landscape. He began showing his artistic abilities developed by attending the University of Wyoming, on the G.I. Bill, pursuing a course of study in drawing, oil painting, and sketching. He was awarded a BFA in 1981 and MFA in 1983. Lee is currently pursuing his career in art after retiring from Active Duty military service in 2006. The Artist of the Month for July is Celeste Havener Celeste Havener won the high school statewide award and national Scholastic award for a wooden sculpture. While she continued to draw, she didn’t start oil painting until her 50’s. She is self-taught and influenced by artists such as Birger Sandzen and McEneny. Celeste’s paintings are her therapist. The Artist of the Month for June is Casey Hanson. Casey Hanson is a native of Wyoming, born and raised, and still residing in Casper, Wyoming. She took an interest in photography and art at a very young age. Casey had her work featured in many different galleries and shows in Casper and Douglas, Wyoming. She had also shown in the “Eagles Nest Artisan Gallery” in Oregon until covid unfortunately closed the gallery for good in 2020. May 2022 Artist of the Month - Jerry Glass, Oil Painter
The Artist of the Month for May is Jerry Glass. Jerry's direction of his art was changed dramatically in 1997 when he saw "Edward Hopper's Night Hawks" at the Chicago Art Institute. He began a series of paintings of abandoned vehicles, scenes of buildings in downtown Laramie, and a series depicting various aspects of the railroad. Jerry mainly does oil paintings. One of his paintings is called, "Wyoming '', this is a painting of a small mountain. On this mountain there are big rocks on the top and smaller rocks fading out.
