Jon Madsen, Oil Artist
The Artist of the Month for March is Jon Madsen. He resides in Laramie, Wyoming, where he shows his Art at Works of Wyoming, located in Historic Downtown.
The fine artwork of Jon Madsen "grows out of ideas and sensations which come to me from many sources...observation of the natural world, -- of what happens in my paintings and drawings, and speculation on 'What could come next."
Born in Kansas, he moved to Wyoming to study at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Majoring in art and received his BFA / MFA in 1973. However, to support his family he work 25 years in the computer industry. He has kept his passion for art alive by teaching beginning drawing and watercolor classes for UWYO, participating in competitive shows, and one person shows. He also received Wyoming Arts Council fellowships in 2000 and 2006.
Currently, he and his wife Ginny are retired, he still paints while Ginny is a relief print artist. Both currently show their work in Works of Wyoming Gift n Gallery.
