As a young teenager, I was incredibly fortunate to spend my summers enjoying the beauty and tranquility of our small ranch located in the heart of Southeastern Montana. A line of buttes on the western side provided the perfect backdrop for our ranch life, where we had kept a small variety of horses, primarily ranch horses skilled at working with cattle.

Around the time I transitioned into my freshman year of high school, my father began a new venture—raising a mix of Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred crosses. His passion led him to breed these magnificent animals both to race and serve as saddle horses for ranching.

Through this experience, I had a unique opportunity to immerse myself in the world of horses. I learned to appreciate not only their physical beauty but also their keen intellect and unwavering loyalty. Each horse had its own distinct personality, showcasing incredible strength and grace. These magnificent creatures inspired me deeply and ignited a passion for drawing them. Capturing their elegance and spirit on paper is a delightful pursuit, allowing me to admire their majesty even more. The bond I formed with some of these horses enriched my summers and left me with unforgettable memories filled with the sounds of hooves on the ground and the warmth of their gentle presence.
