The aspen bolete forms a mutualistic (a symbiotic interaction between two species where both partners benefit) relationship with aspen trees, so it can be found among aspen groves. It is edible, but there are many species of boletes that look similar, and some are poisonous (so take caution!). The aspen bolete is here pictured with a delicious morel mushroom.
