The Rocky Mountain wild iris grows alongside rivers, streams, ponds, and in wet areas on the plains and in the mountains in southeast Wyoming. During the late spring, you can find it in wet areas among the hay fields in the Laramie Valley, and throughout the summer, you can find it in wet areas in the Snowies. It’s always a sign of spring for me, lifting my spirits when I see it on a drive south of Laramie on Highway 287
