From the artist:
The prairie of eastern Wyoming, known for its wide open spaces and bluebird skies, hosts a unique plant community full of a myriad of grasses, low-growing flowers, and some unique and prickly cacti. This piece celebrates the surprising diversity of plants on the prairie, including the satiny but sharp rough pricklypoppy, brittle pricklypear and spinystar cacti, (seemingly) omnipresent western salsify, delicate downy Indian paintbrush, low-growing Missouri milkvetch, showy scarlet globemallow, and two grass species, including our state grass, Western wheatgrass, and blue grama.
