In the mid-80's, we moved to Vermont and lived on a dirt road high on a hill. Very fortunately, our neighbor further up the hill was a Vermont native in his 70's and taught me everything I know about gardening. Elwin would walk down the hill to feed the horses and he would always wear his heavy tall rubber boots. I ordered my very first pair of green rubber Gardening Boots which I still have to this day. I was compelled to paint an image of my boots as the first design in the Garden Collection. The Watering Can and the Wheelbarrow followed since they were the most important tools I used to create my very own first vegetable garden.

Over the years after cultivating many gardens, I realized how fascinating various insects are, especially ones that fly. Two of the most interesting to me are the Monarch Butterfly and the Dragonfly. It is always a treat to welcome the arrival of the Monarch butterfly every year. Just the sheer beauty of the different dragonflies with their iridescent wings would capture anyone's attention.

When we moved to Woodstock, Vermont, I became a member of the Woodstock Garden Club. One of the workshops I took during that time was about making dried topiaries. I absolutely fell in love with choosing various dried flowers to use in creating my own Topiary. I had to include an image of one in my Garden Collection.
