From the artist:

The inspiration for the Lobster and Crab designs are a result of growing up in the state of Maine. We spent our summers at the beach which included cracking lobsters and eating native Maine crab meat. Knowing how to properly crack a lobster is a real art form.

The Seagull always fascinated me as a child because when we would picnic on the rocks at the ocean, the seagulls would eat right out of our hands. It made a huge impression on me at a very young age.

The other bird that I always found more interesting than others is the Puffin. The islands of Maine are the only nesting sites for the Atlantic Puffin in the U.S.

You cannot grow up in Maine and spend so much time on the coast boating and swimming and not appreciate the life of a Lobsterman, thus the design of the Lobsterman's Hat and his Anchor.
